Journal blazin's Journal: Anyone have experience with HP notebooks? 4

So yesterday I decided to get a notebook computer and long story short ended up choosing the HP zv6015us from CompUSA. They were low on some advertised model so they were taking $250 off and then still offering the rebates, so it would be $949. It's supposed to be and Athlon 64 - 3500+ with 1GB RAM, 100GB HD, dual layer DVD+/-RW and an ATI x200m I think. Anyway, I am noticing that everywhere I look on this computer it says zv6000, not zv6015us. The BIOS says zv6000, the badge on the notebook (top right of keyboard), etc. I want to know if I got the right machine or if they gave me the wrong one?

Does anyone know if it should say 6015 on the notebook, or will the 6xxx all say zv6000?

Thank you guys very much.

  • and I won't ever buy one. Take it back and get a Toshiba. You won't be sorry.
    • It seemed that the Toshibas would be $600+ more for the same or less of a computer. What's wrong with HPs?
      • Other than Dell, HP and Compaqs are the laptops I've had the most trouble out of. I used to work for a computer repair place and we got more Compaqs and HPs than anything. That was before Dell was big. They suck even more. Gateway in 2000-2001 was making POS laptops as well. I've had my Toshiba since 1996 and still use it. Yeah, it's a little slow compared to todays machines, but it still connects my wireless network and runs my remote access software so that I can admin other machines.

        If you plan on

        • Acers aren't a bad compromise between the rock-solid dependability of Toshibas and the cheap price of HP/Compaqs. At my company, we've had some HP (Omnibooks) that have lasted 4 years with no problems, but the majority had screen, keyboard, or hard drive failures in the first 2 to 3 years. As far as the naming scheme and being written on the notebook, what you're seeing lines up with what I remember - it's probably the right one, not a mis-sold older model.
