I have a lot of Indian work colleagues and this is not my experience at all. Some are really talented. I think your mileage may vary.

No one said anything about any of this not being true. No one said everyone in the world have historically been angels. Many of the states in power have been trying to do reconciliation for these atrocities. The difference here is that the current Russian government still tries to deny any accountability for the past or now. The point is: What Putin is doing right now is criminal. Because you are not stupid, you know that but can't deal with that. Full stop. Focus on the fact that you are denying that and ask yourself why.

I have been a developer since before the Web was invented, and I find blaming "H1B-types and the younger gen" laughable, lazy and ridiculous. I agree a lot of devs make stuff with the latest new and shiny and don't think about why decisions were made in the past, but throughout my career this has been going on by all types?

Remember Flash, Java and ActiveX? You can't blame the H1B-types and the younger gen for that. We had many older devs of my generation who were just as bad. The Y2K problem was not caused by anyone but people of our generation and older. We should have known better.

I am torn about this issue. While the Canadian in me doesn't want to see foreign companies own a majority in a Canadian telecom, the consumer in me is really upset about how much cell service costs in this country (i.e. *way* more expensive than most other countries). Bell and Rogers charge for incoming SMS if you don't have SMS in your plan, and it seems that they work with each other to fix prices. Not only does Canadian consumers need competition for these folks, this competition needs deep pockets in order to successfully compete with these folks, which Wind has, thanks to its parent Orascom. So I am torn. It doesn't help, either, that Orascom also in a joint partner in Koryolink, North Korea's only 3G Mobile operator.
