Journal zogger's Journal: War preps or disinfo? 4
You make the call, could be both or neither. Jerusalem Post has reported that Israeli fighter jets are practicing inside Iraq and using access to a US airbase that puts them just minutes away from Iranian targets. It could be BS, might be the real deal, might be advanced sabre rattling or..I dunno.

The main OPEC dude has said basically any attack on Iran, all bets are off with oil prices-which is the opinion of about anyone who is paying the least bit of attention. And you follow the threat potential it goes directly right at nuclear fission power, which is part of the equation the all pro nukes crowd always neglects to mention. Engineering wise, nukes can work, practically speaking in todays geopolitical climate, further mass expansion will be a non starter because we just have too many places where political instability and conflicts could result in..attacks on nuke facilities if they are pushed, and if they-the current nuke power "strong" nations- just arbitrarily decide that 4/5ths of the planet will be off limits to new nuke construction, all them folks will become increasingly annoyed with being dictated to and treated like "bloody wogs" all the time while at the same time being bled completely dry by conventional petroleum prices and kept in economic thralldom.
I see no easy answer other than move to the alternatives, no one (who matters outside of watermelon green circles) is really upset that much over wind power or solar or anything like that, because it can't be turned into a weapon, and it is also scalable better than nukes, because even tiny nukes take the same amount of armed protection and need to have sophisticated long term waste facilities etc. In a peaceful utopian world, sure nukes are nice, and whenever we find such a planet, then maybe we should go that way, but not now, because it will mean an inevitable major global war or wars. Inevitable, no way it wouldn't happen. This fighting over nuclear power has the potential to spiral way out of control, and fast.

Got personal preparations in enough quantity to withstand a major economic and supply availability problem of *everything*? An attack on Iran at this point is going to rock everyone's world, it won't be limited to TV images, just about every single human on the planet will go through fast shortages, incredibly price rises in most everything, including food, and so on. It will suck, it will not be like the past iraq/iran war and the short lived "tanker war", or even like the OPEC embargo, because this time facilities are going to be destroyed, knocked out of functionality on big scales. Losing that supply is going to royally piss off several major customers like china and japan and dollars to donuts some of the "tame" muslim oil producing nations will lose some to iranian lucky shots as well. And that is just for starters. No telling how much other stuff would get destroyed, or even if chems or bios start to get used, after that is theater level fission weapons and...feeling lucky? My sincere hope is all the various sides back down from their macho bullshit. I wouldn't bet two bucks on that though. If I had my druthers I would take less enerrgy for the next hundred years if it meant more peace, over more energy and tons of arguing and fighting over it. We already live here low on the carbon exploitation scale for crap useless reasons, what we burn is to make food mostly, but I would be willing to cut our already low levels in half if it meant more peace around the planet. Do it in a second if that helped make it possible. And we already have plans to be forced into it, and that is the main reason I went back to farm work, I smelled this stuff coming back in the 90s-it really is just some simple math and looking at trends, I figgered then around between 2010 and 2015 would be the last possible point of no major wars over resources from chinese expansion mostly- and knew eventually that global population increase/burgeoning desire for more energy for more people for not basic necessities stuff but for luxuries (where most of the west's energy goes to now) and conventional supply would hit a flashover crossover point from "doable" to "you got to be kidding, this ain't gonna work", and it looks like we are just about there. I knew this was going to hit because everyone dropped the ball on renewables back then and it languished for *thirty freeking years*, which was all the time we needed to pull off a major transition and back when oil was cheap enough to do it. Nope. Got ignored for the most part, now it is in emergency zone and a threat of war over building nukes. Just sucks.
I'm on a farm, most of you ain't. Make sure you "invest" in some "stocks" that aren't just digital bits stored on some server someplace, it just will not hurt at this point in time. Even if no big war it will still help at the end of the year as your necessity stuff will have been gotten and paid for cheaper, very few things are going to be going down in price. Very few. Some gadgets maybe, and that is about it, and even then it looks to have hit on a plateau and is starting to level out.

Speaking of screwy stuff. I still got a small running bet between a few buddies and me (group to group bet) where I formulated the idea that perhaps we're gonna hit Pakistan first, THEN Iran.
