Sure, we'll be hearing lots of good things about this game. ...in about 6 months time once they finally get around to ironing all the bugs out of multiplayer. I mean, when I party with someone, it kinda helps to be able to see their guy in my instance. If I'm lucky I'll see the floating name above their character -- but that only happens about 5% of the time. Rest of the time, it's like I'm fighting alone.

And that engineer drone bug. The one that deletes any equipment you give to the drone to make it useful. And the one where the stat points you assign to it reset themselves every time you log off/crash. Can't forget that one.

And all the out-of-memory bugs. And the hourly crash to the desktop.

But yeah -- if you can overlook all that, you'll be hearing a LOT about this game!

(Also note: It's 9 days before launch and all of these bugs still persist.)

El Reg Says Google Choking on Spam Sites 234

Grubby Games writes "The Register is reporting that Google is full, and in trouble." From the article: "Recently, we featured a software tool that can create 100 Blogger weblogs in 24 minutes, called Blog Mass Installer. A subterranean industry of sites providing 'private label articles,' or PLAs exists to flesh out 'content' for these freshly minted sites. And as a result, legitimate sites are often caught in the cross fire. But the new algorithms may not be solely to blame. Google's chief executive Eric Schmidt has hinted at another reason for the recent chaos. In Google's earnings conference call last month, Schmidt was frank about the extent of the problem. 'Those machines are full,' he said. 'We have a huge machine crisis.'" James Robertson points out that's a fairly selective bit of quoting.

UK Parliament to be Made Redundant? 607

caluml writes "The Guardian is reporting that the current UK government is trying to sneak a new law though in an innocuously named bill called 'The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill,' which would get rid of that pesky, interfering need to put laws to the Houses of Commons and Lords to approve. There is already the Parliament Act that can be used to force laws through, which was used recently for the hunting bill. " The original coverage is a bit old but the bill is still being tossed around in parliament. The text of the bill is also available via the UK Parliament website.

Required Knowledge for a Career in Network Security 73

mtgarden asks: "I am trying to decide if I want to make a career shift into network security. I enjoy learning about cutting edge technologies and find security interesting. I am not especially good at programing but would potentially enjoy the analysis side of security. Where would I start studying to learn whether this field is a good fit for me?"

You have way too much free time if you have that many 60s. Paladins can deal dmg while immune very very slowly (50% decreased attack speed). They don't deal much dmg in the first place so... that's pretty irrelevent. Tying up resources in PvP? Just don't attack the paladin when it's bubbled. Not a hard concept. You can tell when it's bubbled, move on to another target. Do you stop attacking a mage when it's mana shielded or a priest when it's shielded? Mages and priests can attack while shielded at full force. The hammer can only be used below 20% life and uses more than 300 mana. If you are at the end of a big battle where you are healing you generally don't have 300 mana left to cast it. Comparing it to execute is pretty lame. I would love to have an Alliance Shaman so the Horde can finally see how stupidly powerful the Shaman is. Take away their mail armor and give them leather at level 40 instead and we'll call it even. Please suspend your account so we don't have to hear you whine in game. Thanks.
