Ah, of course! Psy trance! Silly me, I have one of their albums in my collection even...

Oh, wait a minute.

This article is about the band. For the cosmological model, see Plasma cosmology.

My bad... But wait a minute, from the rest of the discussion I see:

Plasma cosmology and the Electric Universe 'theory ' are not the same. The electric universe folks use plasma cosmology to try to support their claims, but the reverse is not true.

Hmm, well after reading that wiki page I didn't really get much about the actual theory. And I'm lazy. I couldn't find a good summary anywhere else, or quick discussion of the main underlying processes / explaination of cosmological observations.

Very interesting and last couple of posts here.

I'm an engineering & physics undergrad, and have never heard of this EU theory before. After I post this I will google it or hit up wiki to try and find out what the whole thing is about.

That said, when I read the AC's post "not a debate," it sounded really convincing to me - that whatever this EU theory is sounds totally looney. But pln2bz's response was even better. Regardless of what EU theory is (I still don't know), I got insight on some interesting phenomena or problems in cosmology/astronomy I've never heard of before. It provoked much more stimulating thought and imagination.

Now I feel like the AC's post tricked me!

But now I'll look up what this EU theory is (and see if it really is some batshit crazy timecubish "theory")

Urine Passes NASA Taste Test 404

Ponca City, We love you writes "Astronauts flying aboard space shuttle Endeavour are delivering a device to the International Space Station that may leave you wondering if NASA is taking recycling too far. Among the ship's cargo is a water regeneration system that distills, filters, ionizes, and oxidizes wastewater — including urine — into fresh water for drinking or, as one astronaut puts it, 'will make yesterday's coffee into today's coffee.' The US space agency spent $250M for the water recycling equipment but with the space shuttles due to retire in two years, NASA needed to make sure the station crew would have a good supply of fresh water. The Environmental Control and Life Support Systems uses a purification process called vapor compression distillation: urine is boiled until the water in it turns to steam. In space, there's an additional challenge: steam doesn't rise, so the entire distillation system is spun to create artificial gravity to separate the steam from the brine. The water has been thoroughly tested on Earth, including blind taste tests that pitted recycled urine with similarly treated tap water. 'Some people may think it's downright disgusting, but if it's done correctly, you process water that's purer than what you drink here on Earth,' said Endeavour astronaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper."

Belgian ISP Scores Victory In Landmark P2P Case 76

secmartin writes "Belgian ISP Scarlet scored an important victory in the first major European test of copyright law. The interim decision forcing them to block transfers of copyrighted materials via P2P has been reversed, because the judge agreed with Scarlet that the measures the Belgian RIAA proposed to implement proved to be ineffective. A final decision is expected next year."

Researchers Developing Cancer-Fighting Beer 283

CWmike writes "Ever picked up a cold, frosty beer on a hot summer's day and thought that it simply couldn't get any better? Well, think again. A team of researchers at Rice University in Houston is working on helping Joe Six Pack fight aging and cancer with every swill of beer." Thank you science! Now we just need cigarettes that cure baldness.

New State of Matter Could Extend Moore's Law 329

rennerik writes "Scientists at McGill University in Montreal say they've discovered a new state of matter that could help extend Moore's Law and allow for the fabrication of more tightly packed transistors, or a new kind of transistor altogether. The researchers call the new state of matter 'a quasi-three-dimensional electron crystal.' It was discovered using a device cooled to a temperature about 100 times colder than intergalactic space, following the application of the most powerful continuous magnetic field on Earth."

Canada Election Result Bad News For DMCA Opponents 311

An anonymous reader writes "For those with a stake in the opposition of Jim Prentice's C-61, the Canadian DMCA, this previous week's election results will be displeasing. The Conservative Party, which promised to reintroduce the DMCA if elected, gained 19 seats this election, mostly at the expense of the flagging liberal party, a mere 12 short of a majority government. The increase in Conservative representation, as well as the relatively low profile of this issue amidst other, more pressing concerns, increases the likelihood that the son of C-61 will come to fruition. On a positive note, the number of MPs supporting Geist's copyright pledge has increased to 34. Given the Conservative Party's historic disregard of public opinion, however, the efforts of the copyright-pledge MPs will have to rally the full opposition across three major parties in order to defeat the bill. A mere 12 MPs now stand between the Canadian public and the MAFIAA's hungry maw."

Its hard to be believe how ignorant people's arguments can be like the GP's. Or should I say, contradictory?

If evolution isn't provable, thats like saying any science shouldn't be taught because it's not provable.

"Creation theory subscribers" should just stop getting vaccines, using modern technology, etc etc :)
