Video Plantronics Helps Make Remote Workers' Lives Easier (Video) 233

If you're working at home or from a coffee shop or, really, anyplace outside your company's offices, they need to hear you when you talk, and you need to hear them. The same goes for dealing with clients via VOIP or video, the two communications techologies that seem to be driving POTS into obsolescence faster than we thought possible just a few years ago. Submission + - First PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware Created (thinq.co.uk)

Stoobalou writes: Hot on the heels of the discovery of the the PlayStation 3 private root key, and its subsequent leakage by iPhone hacker Geohot, the first custom firmware for the formerly inpenetrable console has been released.

Comment Other OS wasn't available on Launch PS3s (Score 1) 546

I may be mis-remembering, but at PS3 Launch OtherOS support was not in the Firmware yet (1.3 or 1.5 something), OtherOS came to the firmware later...1.6 something? So they could say they added a feature then took it away until the date they started shipping the systems supporting OtherOS out of the box. Or maybe it was support for OtherOS Linux other than Yellowdog that was added later. I forget. I use Other OS, haven't updated yet and the DNS hack seems to not work anymore to get on PSN.

Submission + - Sony Sued Over Other OS Removal (thinq.co.uk) 1

Stoobalou writes: A Californian Playstation 3 user has filed the first class action lawsuit against Sony over removal of the 'Install Other OS' function from the Playstation 3.

The action seeks to redress Sony's "intentional disablement of the valuable functionalities originally advertised as available with the Sony Playstation 3 video game console."

The suit claims that the disablement breaches the sales contract between Sony and its customers and constitutes "an unfair and deceptive business practice perpetrated on millions of unsuspecting customers".
