I gotta say, dell has done it again with thier new c840. I just got mine, and it kicks ass.

However, there are a few things I dont like about it:

1) Dell is using the same case on the inspiron 8000 series.

2) The LCD is not enclosed in a magnesium case.

3) It's bigger than I'd prefer (my last laptop was a Compaq Armada M700)

4) It comes with the stick and the gay touchpad. I prefer the stick, and it would be nice if i could choose either/or.

5) It consumes waaaay too much battery, I have 2 of the 14v/66Whr batteries and the SpeedStep is set to max savings and between the 2 batteries I only get 4 hours of life. (perhaps it's the P4 that's eating it all)

That's all I dislike about it...

Ever notice that slashdot will run any story that has to do with linux? no matter what it is? and that it stays on the front page the longest?

What happens when a *BSD story comes along? it's there for a few hours and then it's taken off the front page...
