Comment just jam AI into it (Score 2, Insightful) 20

unreal how much marketing executives get paid to make suggestions like jamming AI into a product. wasn’t the last trend AR? a multinational company renamed their company over it, and how’s that working out for them?

stop jumping on the bandwagons, folks. just make a good product that people want to buy.

CES is a joke. remember when every manufacturer was touting 3D televisions? or when everything was going to be “smart/connected?” where are the curved displays? fads, just like Super Pong and CB radio.

enter this year’s theme: Artificial Intelligence. jamming “AI” into everything won’t set the world on fire (in a sales sense, anyway). just make good products that people want and save money by not feeding the marketing machine. you’ll do fine.

i am on the AI bandwagon (who wants to join the Button Guild?) but it seemed weird to announce that AI is going to rewrite the Windows Operating System top-to-bottom. as an AI user, i can say unequivocally that is impossible with today’s tech. you can’t point AI at something and say “go.” you still need to know your shit. currently, AI is only faster at typing than you are.

good on microsoft for quickly correcting this misinformation.

Comment get your name out there (Score 1) 125

folks looking for jobs: get your name on a published project. if you can’t find a team, then publish something yourself. get your name on an App Store project (any app store). if you can’t get your name on something, then honestly, you’re probably not worth a potential employer’s attention.
