My friend developed a game for the iPhone and has seen miniscule sales but lots of pirated copies being played. The problem seems to be that there is no way to find good apps on the App Store, popular apps rise to the top and it's impossible to find good stuff unless you know what you're looking for. He has decided to make it free for a week and already it has climbed higher in the charts, the only way to make money off this seems to be either to release it free with ads or get it in the top 50 where people will buy it even if it's crap.

His game is rather good btw, "seaglass" for those that want to check it out, free for one week only :)

An anonymous Coward writes "Knights Armament Corp. who supply sniper rifles to the US military have developed a iPod Touch mounting system and software for the US Army M110 sniper rifle system. The use of off the shelf hardware no doubt cut costs and allowed rapid development of this system." If it automatically played a theme song after every head shot, this would be the coolest rifle accessory ever.

Anybody familiar with Blu-ray rips found on BitTorrent sites or other filesharing networks will instantly recognize the MKV file format in combination with the H.264 codec as a popular way to deliver High Definition video on a PC. And now that DivX is throwing its weight behind the Matroska container, MKV support should increasingly find its way on a range of non-PC devices, such as Blu-ray players, HD digital televisions and set-top boxes."

Sounds to me like this tilting is just the land settling down after the last ice age. The north of the country used to be covered in ice, while the south was clear. Now that the weight of the ice has gone, the land is just seeking a point of equilibrium.
