It still is the "free encyclopedia anyone can edit," nothing has changed. You miss the point of "free" and "open" it doesnt mean that everything one puts will stay there. People make mistakes, people distort the truth, and people Lie. Others, have to correct these errors. If one person "cries wolf" a lot, you're simply not going to listen to them. This is all that it is. If someone had a history of not telling the truth, why would you trust them?

An anonymous reader writes "Chrome Center has done some benchmarks with the proprietary S3 Chrome 400/500 Driver on Linux and Windows. They compared Nexuiz frame rates on a Phenom II system with a S3 430 GT — the surprising result: The Linux driver outperforms its Windows equivalent, offering frame rates about twice as high on average. The question now: Is the Linux driver that good or the Windows driver that bad?"

This pisses me off. Why can't we have FOSS technology to do it. With silverlight only some people can watch it. With FOSS technology everyone can.

I was wondering how this has been implemented in other companies, and how it's worked out for other Slashdot readers. Is your system flexible? Do you find time to get personal stuff done during the week? Is Friday good for anything other than catching up on lost sleep? And perhaps most important, do your managers respect the off-Fridays, or do they pull people in on a regular basis to handle 'crises?'"

Open Source Projects are not required to support any users, unless they have agreed to. That isn't to say that they should NOT go about supporting users, and in fact, if they did not, the FOSS world would not be as successful. Most projects do support their user base, and do it very well, but, of course, are not required. An author of a book is no more required to help people comprehend their words than a driver writer is to help people use their code. But we all help each other out because its better that way.
