Comment Same here, Sectigo revoked my certificate. (Score 5, Interesting) 180
First time poster here. My certificate was also revoked by Sectigo a few days ago because of Virustotal. I signed my own open source software including the remote management agent for MeshCentral and used Virustotal to check what anti-virus products would see. Little did I know this would backfire in a big way as my certificate was placed on the list that signed malware probably partially because I uploaded my own signed executable to Virustotal. I quickly submitted a support ticket to Sectigo and got no response so far. The issue was first reported by a user on GitHub and I had switch to self-signing my software. I got no warning, no communication and there does not seem to be any way to contest the revocation.
If I had known ahead of time, I would have only signed software after it passes the "test". If anything can be done to get my certificate back, I would appreciate the help. Otherwise, I probably will be self-signing from now on.
