This is what I wonder about. Why dont they just set MinSpareServers to 256 and MaxSpareServers to 512 so you wouldn't likely need to fork another server? I'm no apache expert, but wondering why you cant do that on the systems they use for benchmarks. It sure works wonders for single CPU systems with high end CPU's and lots of RAM. Each apache server only needs half a meg of memory to run in. Maybe there is something I dont know. What is it?
