It's like the USCSB (U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board) was not allowed to report the number of casualties anymore. (Actually the current US administration tries to kill off the USCSB completely.)
They need to scan you because in an emergency (for example, if you are confined to bed in a life-threatening situation) they could crank down missing scenes even without you. Just for a case of emergency.
(PS. If your wage is so high that the studio boss can't afford a new Lambo, this also counts as an emergency, clearly.)
