Thanks for the reply, very good point, .....but..... If what your saying is true then since the RF form the cell towers below is so weak I shouldnt be able to use my phone at all, and if I do by chance get a signal on my phone, should I alert the pilot? I wish I had the time to read all this and research and find one single credible instance of a cell phone causing interference to any avionics. (Right now I'm writing SQL and it driving me nuts.)

"...and secondly you are going to be flying OVER mobile phone masts (with a lot more power output) and getting very, very close to them and mobile phones whenever you come into land and taxi...." . Exactly, What about flying over and very near powerful cell phone towers on approach, landings and take offs? Shouldn't those be turned off also? I've always considered the danger of cell phones in airplanes a "convenient myth" used by airlines. And no, I don't use my cell phone on air planes out of courtesy to others.

Call of Duty: Black Ops the Most Pirated Game of the Year 5

Torrentfreak reports that after calculating download frequency for pirated copies of popular video games, Call of Duty: Black Ops has won the dubious honor of being the most pirated game of 2010. The PC version of the game was torrented roughly 4,270,000 times, and the Xbox 360 version was downloaded an additional 930,000 times. (The most pirated Wii game was Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Dante's Inferno somehow managed to accrue the most downloads of Xbox 360 games.) Fortunately for Activision, the game has still made over $1 billion in sales, and its 20,000,000+ players have racked up over 600,000,000 man-hours of play time since the game's launch in early November.

Should Colleges Ban Classroom Laptop Use? 804

theodp writes "If you were a college prof, think you could successfully compete for the attention of a lecture hall of Mac-packing students? CS student Carolyn blogs that a debate has sprung up on her campus about whether it is acceptable to use a laptop in class. And her school is hardly alone when it comes to struggling with appropriate in-classroom laptop use (vendor/corporate trainers would no doubt commiserate). The problem, she says, is that the OCD Facebookers aren't just devaluing their own education — there's a certain distraction factor to worry about. 'Students,' she suggests, 'should also communicate with each other more and tell their classmates when their computer use bothers them. I'll admit it, when I'm trying to pay attention to the lecture, even someone's screensaver in the row ahead of me can be a major distraction.'"
