Comment It's inevitable but not until it actually happens (Score 1) 137

I bet every single one of these companies will magically find a way WHEN what they're currently relying on dies. WHEN, people. It's going to happen but you know what? It's economically valid. It's not necessary until it's necessary and then it goes under the emergency category where you have a lot of leeway. How do you categorize modernizing things now when it costs so much when it's not technically necessary?

Absolutely a Logitech MX Master 3S mouse man now. But when I was a tech writer and then scrum master, I could not do without my Natural Keyboard. It was rough when Microsoft stopped producing the wireless version but it was worth it to deal with a cable and one USB port to keep using the thing. Best. Keyboard. Ever. Almost 20 years of constant typing and no RSI or carpal issues whatsoever.

Mom got us kids a Texas Instruments 99 computer to see if anything would spark - granted it's not like she got the cassette tape add-on so it was somewhat limited. :-) That was 8th grade. Then after college in 1992, it was a custom built 386/40 with 8MB RAM and a 114MB drive from a little boutique outfit in CA Bay Area (Pixel Computer). Mom helped finance that $1200 'beast' and was aghast when mere months later, I had it apart on the kitchen table to add a card that'd let me add 2 more hard drives (E and F). Fuhgettabout it when I swapped out the board for a 486 and 16MB RAM.

Comment What about Apple TV? (Score 1) 144

We're still 'rocking' an old Samsung 65" HD TV - haven't gone 4k yet but probably will in the next few years. We have Apple TVs on our TVs and only watch Hulu +Live TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV. No cable as Google Fiber does the trick through Netgear Orbis. If the only connection to any TV is through an Apple TV box, is this going to be a concern? I imagine setup on a new TV may be an issue but if I just do a temp SSID like others have mentioned then kill that SSID, I should be good right?

Oh my fucking god. STOP. Lose is the opposite of win. To not come in first as in a race; to no longer have as in keys. Loose is the opposite of tight. Are you purposefully contributing to the bastardization of language or is you ignant? One of the very rare cases of using lose for loose when usually it's lose for loose, but still. Come on, people! Are we going to try to stop this or should we just give up and call it a day and let lose and loose be interchangeable and extra vowels are just the norm now?
