The fact is that a piano is an "imperfect" mechanical instrument. Each one is different. Simply transferring mechanical instructions via Disklavier does not guarantee an authentic re-produced as it sounded on the source piano, because the nuances are lost, as well as any adjustments made in performances due to specifics of the piano (action stiffness, release, timbre from low-to high end, etc.).
To a degree, even a halfway decently produced cassette tape or CD would capture the true performance better.
It's just my opinion, but I have played in classical competitions and professional settings for almost 35 years.... and have used the technology.
