Journal Journal: Ignore the rave reviews: Empire Total War buggy to the max.

My addiction caught up with me yet again. Yep. Games addiction. I managed to drop the bad- for -your- health stuff but am still addicted to video games. So when I see a game rated unanimously as near 100% great, well I just have to go buy it no matter I have no money at the time. And because it crashed I even consider buying a new computer just to run the bloody thing on if the problem is on my aged beast. Just shows how addicted I am. Oh well- it won't send me broke- I'm already broke- and I won't be here on this planet forever so have to experience all the games I can. And it's not really hurting anyone- it's just that I am not really achieving anything. Yes. It is a total waste of precious time not Total War. My full rave is here http://overthinkingman.blogspot.com/

Journal Journal: Opera still not working with Blogger or vice versa

So tired of Internet Explorer freezing and refusing to close ( probably because of Nortons AV). I have to keep it as the default browser though otherwise Norton's won't update its definitions ( what a monopoly- are they working together now) and what of Firefox you may ask- well I find it lacking- the stupid no script thingy wants to update every time then complains and well- its all too much- and it's all so plain without add ons isn't it?. So I went back to the beautiful free Opera browser. The only problem is that in order to access my google account I have to use one of the other browsers- it won't allow me to log in and gives a user error which does not happen with the other browsers.Have tried all the usual antics to get it to function- no luck. Poor Opera- so brilliant and so fast for browsing yet so unsupported.

Journal Journal: Photography Pornography or Art

Australian media is buzzing with the closing down of artist ( well he's really a photographer) Bill Henson's exhibition and Police have confiscated the offending works. This article http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/arts-elite-attacks-pm/2008/05/27/1211654031654.html is on the Melbourne Age web site These works are of naked adolescents. You won't find them on the Web however- they have all been removed pending the legal outcomes. I have to say this guy knows how to get publicity and doesn't any kind of publicity work? But it poses the real question of when is Art legal or illegal. There are those such as our famous Cate Blanchett who think the photos are ok, though she has children and there are those like our prime minister who think it's "utterly revolting". I think this issue opens up many interesting observations on 2008 culture in Australia. We have such fear now that we can't even show or view a child's nakedness in case it can be twisted into some kind of acceptance of paedophilia. The fundamental thinker would state that the photographer is a dirty old man putting out obscene and destructive pictures (I don't think paedophiles tend to publicly show their material) whilst the Art community simply cry for artistic freedom. For me as an artist, I don't even think it is Art- it's simply photography. Slinging paint in a meaningful way is far more Art than these shuttergugs would have us believe. Just visit Flickr to see far better photography than this guy's "great art". Let's face it though; controversy gets the fame.

Journal Journal: Perpetual motion or hoax? 1

The Star reports on this inventor breaking all the laws of physics as far as free energy goeshttp://www.thestar.com/sciencetech/article/300042#t. Hoax or real? Even provoked interest from "esteemed Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Markus Zahn" [quote]. I would like to know how this seemingly backyard enthusiast's experimental set up has not been tried a million times over the years. It seems so simple and too good to be true. The article has links to a multipart video demo of the device accelerating an electric motor under load for free!!!

Journal Journal: Disclosure Project : uncovering truth re ET's or hoax?

In my interest re UFO's I see Dr Stephen Greer and the Disclosure Project making mind blowing statements about the coverup of extraterrestial contact and resulting Earth saving energy technology being available today. It appears totally credible with hundreds of high level military personnel, government officials, public servants and scientists making clear statements on what has been covered up by above-top-secret industrial/military organizations withing the United States. Surely other Slashdotters have come across this stuff. Gary McKinnon the UK hacker in the news at present made many references to it. Strangely, I don't remember seeing any articles posted on this site regarding this bombshell stuff.I have searched but maybe I missed it. Nevertheless, why so quiet? I guess most of us don't want to look like weak minded and gullible cranks by bringing up the subject of UFO's. I thought Slashdot was news for nerds, stuff that matters. If true I reckon this should matter the most of any article ever posted here. Does everyone just write this off as a hoax? It seems so credible wih such prominent individuals involved in it are we sure it is without substance? And what of the theory that all the technology we love so much was seeded by the Roswell crash over 50 years ago. Come on nerds- get into it.

Journal Journal: IC,Fibre Optics seeded from crashed Roswell UFO?

After following the claims by UFO hacker Gary McKinnonhttp://english.ohmynews.com/articleview/article_view.asp?article_class=4&no=303990&rel_no=1 myself and a group of friends and family have been tracing the information flowing from Disclosure Project http://www.disclosureproject.org/ that he referred to. I found the most convincing book on the existence of UFO/ETS to be "The Day After Roswell" by the late Colonel Phillip Corso (1997 Pocket Books Publication). Corso's credential is flawless so much so that the ex Minister of Defence of Canada Paul Hellyer was so convinced as to its authenticity that he became a UFO advocate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hellyer. In this book Corso states that his job in 1961 was to seed new technology in major corporations R & D departments with alien technology by releasing, to them, artifacts recovered from Roswell's downed UFO of 1947.Okay this may be old news but when I see the current problems we have with Global Warming and the statements by Dr. Greer of the disclosre project that zero point energy is available but being sat on by a secret government in the US I wonder why more people ar not raising this issue more often particularly on such a large forum as Slashdot. And before the hardline skeptics prevalent in this forum begin with their usual debunk campaign consider this: If all or any of this is the truth then there can never be enough discussion particularly at this time in our history with our overpopulated and polluted Earth on the brink of collapse (An Inconvenient Truth- Al Gore) we have never needed such revelations to be true.
