Manic phases don't make you brilliant.
They make you think you're brilliant.
I couldn't have worded that any better.
I've observed the effects in a friend of mine. Yes, mania juices your brain with insane creativity. You're bursting with ideas. Some of them are good.
Some of them are dumb. Some of them are pointless. And you can't tell the difference -- you want all of them.
No. Not when you wake up at 3am and your
mind keeps you awake the rest of the night. Sometimes you just want to shut it up.
It is important not to glorify mania though. Psychology books cant quite explain it correctly, I can't even explain
it to my friends. It is like explaining
color to someone who has been blind all along. Or perhaps closer to explaining
what it is like to be blind all your life
to someone who can see.
