I finish the test, the counter keeps on ticking and it says I type 31 wpm. It always says this even when I type far slower than 31 wpm, or when I type far faster.

That's probably because you finished typing the "sample words" (ones that are far shorter than the standard seven letter word used for typing tests) but the script kept counting time until sixty seconds elapsed.

According to that page, I type 112 WPM. Ridiculous.
