Sorry for the late reply. You're half right. My first vehicle was purchased outright for $300 in $20 bills. No payments, 15 bills on the table and title signed. My motorcycle was purchased for $600 in the same way. I'm not sure about the two other cars, as they were previously my parent's and actually stayed in their name, but the car I'm driving now (currently owned along with my motorcycle) was bought using insurance money from the last accident and no payments are being made, so I believe that the car I was driving before was owned also, bringing the total to at least for. Wow, that makes me sound like a moron that doesn't even know if he owns his own cars. :(

Why is that so hard to believe? I got my first vehicle when I was 16, sold it two years later and got my parents old car, which was later destroyed (not-at-fault accident) and I got their next oldest car (my parents have a lot of cars). I eventually traded up for a newer car, and now own a motorcycle. Unless it doesn't include used cars, I doubt this is unusual. Most of my peers around my age are on their second or third car, and several (but not most) of us own two vehicles (car + motorcycle, or car + truck). I'm not doubting the average of four across all humans living today, though. I just think the average for the United States is much much higher.

(Not understanding the question. Assuming s/work/world) Classrooms and conference rooms. With a projector mounted on the middle of ceiling and a desk in the front of the room you can assume a 15' run in the ceiling and a 6' drop, plus any wiggle room brings you to a nice 25-30' cable. Depending on the conference room size, it can easily reach 50'. With the iPad 2 out now (opinions are moot, many business / schools are using them), you'll need a drop much longer than 6', probably to the floor, a good distance from the desk, and then back up to half the presenters height.

Who cares about our "needs"? Build the best cable you economically can today and it'll meet your bandwidth needs tomorrow. "SATA can only push 6 Gigabits, and that's from the drive to the motherboard!" is no excuse to not pass 6 Gigabits on your Ethernet cables. If you can push 600 Gigabits, that means the cable will serve you quite nicely for many, many years. I used to think that when I built / renovated my first house, I'd run Ethernet through the walls. Now, why bother? If I'd done this three years ago or so, I'd have likely used CAT5 and been pushing 100 Megabits reliably. By unplugging the Ethernet cable, I'd get 450% of that speed using the 802.11n MIMO tri-antennas in my MacBook Pro. The entire investment would be worthless because people built the cable needed then.

That depends on what you do. Some people can get by with a 7" netbook. Other people, like developers such as myself, make their living behind a computer screen. The same way any good craftsperson will buy good tools at the price they come at, $3600 for an 27" iMac and two displays is not a waste of money for someone who will use them. I would compare it to how a professional musician will spend four digits on their instrument and five digits on their sound system. It's the tools of the trade.

With dual Thunderbolt on the 27" iMac, this is the first time (I believe?) that a Mac can drive three displays without the use of an external splitter. I can tell you I'd love to have three 27" 1440p displays on my workstation. Also, since iMacs can run headless, if you get three the other two can act as compile servers and/or file servers. It comes with a pricetag but that's a nice hunk of computing power.

The computer I'm on right now is comprised of a keyboard + mouse I've had laying around forever, a LCD I bought on craigslist for $5 because the color is slightly off, a tower I bought for $5 at a University sale and a HD I bought for $15 at the same sale. Total value of $30 or less. That rivals the price of even a GoPhone.

I admit that this can't be done on a stock iPhone, but the whole innovation is that they're writing code on a mobile device, which people have been doing for years, in fact completely set up by end users.

Haven't jailbroken iOS users had compilers / text editors on their phones for years now? I know I personally have..
