Actually...I personally think this is a fairly clever innovation from Amazon. There really never has been an easy way to make small contributions to websites. I know there's PayPal's WebAccept but how many customers do they have? Like less than 5 million right? At least Amazon has 30 million pre-registered customers that don't even have to enter their credit card.
It'll be interesting to see which sites uses this to collect money. A friend forwarded me this site:
This site lists out a bunch of different websites that have put up a "PayPage". So if you're in the giving mood, you donate away! (I guess if you've already created one you can list yours there too and see how much money you can collect!)
