Comment NYC is a core market (Score 1) 311
Let's face it, New York City is the creative and cultural capital of the USA so Apple's core markets are all here: the press, publishing, musicians, artists, fashion, etc. You just can't compare with Boston which has NOTHING like this to offer.
Just a few blocks from Jacob Javits Center you have major television stations like ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN... all who can simply walk over and check out the show and follow up with live broadcasts within minutes. Also Wall St and the stock/financial markets are always curious about Apple and interested in interviewing Steve Jobs.
I went to 2 of the last Boston shows and it was a disaster having to take busses between 2 buildings, not to mention driving around Boston is a slow nightmare! Boston might have a lot of schools (good for the cheap education market) but then you go out and everything shuts down around midnight, BORING!
NYC might be more expensive but it's worth it and at least the food and the hotels are better. We have the best Broadway shows, bars, clubs and a real nightlife. Plus there are many more major creative businesses in New York with a lot more serious money to throw around. NYC ROCKS!
Steve Jobs is a very smart man and he was right to move the show to New York. IDG are just playing politics and being cheap. Well I certainly won't be taking a 5 hour train ride up to Boston for MacWorld ever again.
