Submission + - OpenShot Video Editor Achieves $35k on Kickstarter, Final Goal in Reach! (kickstarter.com) 5

JonOomph writes: The popular open source video editor, OpenShot, has less than 39 hours remaining on popular crowd-funding site, Kickstarter.com. The lead developer, Jonathan Thomas, has proposed a revolutionary new feature, which would allow users to offload CPU, memory, and disk cache to a local server (or multiple local servers), dramatically increasing the speed of previewing and rendering. The more servers added to the pool, the faster the video editing engine becomes (with the primary limitation being network bandwidth). If the final goal of $40k is reached in the remaining hours, this feature will be added to the next version of OpenShot.

Porting Lemmings In 36 Hours 154

An anonymous reader writes "Aaron Ardiri challenged himself to port his classic PalmOS version of Lemmings to the iPhone, Palm Pre, Mac, and Windows. The porting was done using his own dev environment, which creates native C versions of the game. He liveblogged the whole thing, and finished after only 36 hours with an iPhone version and a Palm Pre version awaiting submission, and free versions for Windows and Mac available on his site."

Verizon Charged Marine's Widow an Early Termination Fee 489

In a decision that was reversed as soon as someone with half a brain in their PR department learned about it, Verizon charged a widow a $350 early termination fee. After the death of her marine husband, Michaela Brummund decided to move back to her home town to be with her family. Verizon doesn't offer any coverage in the small town so Michaela tried to cancel her contract, only to be hit with an early termination fee. From the article: "'I called them to cancel. I told them the situation with my husband. I even said I would provide a death certificate,' Michaela said."

yep, i use 64-bit (aka x64 & amd64 & emt64) to, the main reason is that you have ALL the power of you CPU if you buy a Athlon 64 or a Core 2 Duo now and run 32-bit windows you only get like 60% of the preformace as you only use the old 32-bit part of the processor

i have been using xp x64 since its beta and am using vista x64 now and everything is fine.

32-bit windows has ONLY 3GB max, the whole reason that new motherboards support max 16GB ram is becouse of amd64 aka 64-bit

64-bit xp and vista has NO problems whatsoever running 32-bit software, unless it has 16bit old crappy code in it or needs a driver that is only 32bit

and last but not least 64bit windows is kinda imune against 32-bit VIRUSES!
