There are some innovative projects at Microsoft. I'm sure jobs working on innovative GenAI models offer so much inherent reward that their staff stay motivated and engaged. For every job like that, there are probably 2 more jobs doing soul killing work like keeping Microsoft Word functioning on 10 year old lap tops. Folks in those roles move slow because the work is boring. Upper management sees them as a cost center and starts trying to make them work faster with PIPs. That kind of environment is awful and it is why I won't consider jobs in the mega-tech companies any more.

I am a cradle catholic. The church of my childhood in the 70's was trending towards a more affirming and accepting church on the heels of Vatican II.
