It's been "5 years" for a decade or two now. 11 years a decade or two before that.
That doomsday countdown is going slow.
The Arctic was supposed to be ice-free by 2000, which is (*checks calendar*) 25 years ago.
Meanwhile, those trees seem to have lost the ability to inhale that CO2... after hundreds of millions of years.
Sounds like Jesus may be coming soon, too...
It used to be, a noble human voice couldn't be captured on something as mundane as a wax cylinder.
Until i was.
And then a wax disc, then a plastic disc... and so on...
Point being, it can happen. Sooner than we think.
Just not as soon as investors think.
And if none of those researchers are dragging their feet even just a little while fishing for more funding, I'd be surprised.
Holy FUCK some of you people are dense!
What you are actually doing here, is to justify the perpetual bloat to bleed the American taxpayer dry, by letting Perfect be the enemy of Good.
Just for starters, those fucktillion hours of hearing procedures have gone WAY past guarding against dangerous presidential whims, and well into the territory of perpetual griftocrats securing their own personal private gravy train.
Trump/Musk are chasing a pipe dream of some day seeing the US debt clock finally show SOME LEADING ZEROS for once. They're the first ones since bloody forever to even TRY, and can be COUNTED ON to make mistakes. And that pig-headed screeching of yours about how they're therefore NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO fkin TRY, suggests some rather sordid things about your motives.
There's also how a machine is less likely to have a Nefarious Agenda (obviously depending on who's been programming it).
More importantly, it's less likely to be preachy, condescending and arrogantly judgmental about it. Less likely to pour scorn on the lowly Untermensch for stepping out of line with their thinking.
The climate has been changing back and forth for as long as there's been a Planet Earth to have a climate on. The only thing that makes this last one different, is that it happens while working-class people need cars to get to work...
Just remember, folks: Many of these Conspiracy Theorists of yours, believe they're under some sort of attack. Usually for veering too close to the Truth.
If your response is to attack them, you just prove their point.
Democracy is a cute system, with a big fat giant flaw: It needs everyone to be properly educated in what the common rulebook is, why it's important, why it's important to talk to each other without resorting to shouting matches and fisticuffs, and how to (at least try to) solve one problem without creating twelve new ones in the process.
Especially that last one is a problem. Classic example is the money printer going brrr. Like in Weimar Germany. Anyone who paid attention in history class, knows how well that went.
But when we start having factions more preoccupied with getting power and lining their pockets than what's actually good for the country, the school system taking to dumbing down and indoctrinating kids instead of educating them, and whole segments becoming death cults in all but name, then democracy dies.
Musk was hired by Trump after the voters voted for him in order for him to do precisely that.
Doesn't sound all that "unelected" to me...
Also, Musk's job here is to cut down on governmental overspending. Which includes firing a lot of those unelected bureaucrats. Which, in case you're wondering, adds up to there being far fewer of them.
