Comment Do we want to give this power to anyone ? (Score 0) 18

What we know-

Google works closely and silently with the TLAs .

Google was "with Her->". Schmidt worked closely with Hillary to get her elected

There is nothing from stopping any TLA, political party, popular movement, group of elites from acting as hand one- planting such malware - while Google acts as hand two- making it impossible to go to such sites or making sure 99% of people never do.

Snowden showed us that there is no such thing as a tinfoil hat on the internet.

The effective end result of such a campaign would be government / elite censorship disguised as "protecting you".

This is not the first /. poll / question asking if Something Big should be done in the immediate wake of Trump's victory

There are lots of ways to divide up the booty an economic success which reward owners over an above workers but don't involve larceny and race to the bottom predation.

There are lots of ways to outsource prosperity to developing nations which don't destabilize the outsourcing nation yet have the long term effect of bringing the standard of living of that developing nation up.

They choose none of them.

"anonymised data of its 44 million mobile subscribers' location and movements to support crowd and traffic control." 1.there is no such thing as "anonymised data". All that data is easily anonymised. 2. that makes the second sentence actually read - " personal data of its 44 million mobile subscribers' location and movements to support crowd control." 3. what don't you understand now? The entire developed world is choosing to ignore the potentially sinister implications of the highly personal and detailed dossiers they keep on every individual. They are choosing to do this because the corporations who keep that data want to make money off it and the governments which write the laws know full well the potential to control their populations by analyzing and leveraging that data. This guy's "problem" is the public understands this.
