Comment Re:They can't use anonymous sources (Score 1) 450

Sometimes an annonymous source is only needed to point the reporter in the right direction so they can check things out for themselves.

I guess thats more of a "tipster" than a source, but whatever.

You have a good point though. A "source" by default isn't valid. It may be validated though even if it is anonymous. After all, the identity alone of the source doesn't make the information valid... does it? Validating the information recieved by a source is the only way to validate a source. That can be done regardless of anononymity.

Comment Amazon (Score 1) 1168

I sometimes just point people to my Amazon wish list and give them the option to purchase something off of there. It gives them the control to give you what they think you are worth (sometimes dangerous) and/or can afford, plus it is something I want.

I guess it would depend what kind of job it is.

Journal Journal: Slashdot

Sometimes I think Slashdot posts a story just to get a reaction. Example: the recent PC Mag article that indicated that Apple OS X is as insecure as Windows.

Journal Journal: Windows not as secure as Linux / OS X

Read an excellent article at The Register about why Linux and OS X will never be as insecure as Windows. Of course, posted on slashdot. (Also read this (PDF link) paper.

I am just waiting for my company to realize the problems with Windows and move to OS X and Linux.
