I first hear about copyfail about a week ago and at that time they had detected no exploits in the wild. I patched the next day. In security circles, this is OLD news.
- BTW: there were also mitigations to prevent exploit in case you could not patch already available on day 1 of the announcements. So SOME security people knew earlier and had already taken action.

Several Linux distributions pushed out updates, patches, or early releases to prevent either anxiety or impact among their community.

I said something like this on a related thread, it still applies. That discussion was about the laws passed in the USA.
Any OS or distribution refusing to comply with these laws is protecting children.
Any OS, app, or site that uses this age flag permits predators a quick and easy “here is a juvenile target” indicator to home in on. This is like spreading blood in shark waters!

The developers or publishers of these open source Operating Systems have decided to not implement Age Verification, or are currently restricting access in regions with Age Verification laws.

#1 a REASON to challenge Windows on the desktop! None of the other numbers matter unless you have this one.

Linux did not "challenge" anyone for the supreme spot in servers, clustering, and supercomputers.
Linux did not challenge anyone for a spot as the best phone OS.
Those did not happen because of a challenge, they happened because there was a need and Linux was the most adaptable, powerful, fastest developing OS in the world and could fill that need. AND STILL FREE, AND STILL RESPECTING USER FREEDOM!

Linux does not have to challenge anything, it just needs to stay free, fast, flexible, and available.

This is not the first Amazon move that pushes authors and publishers off the platform. They WILL make money, but they also push people to other services (like Goodreads, etc.) for e-books. I want e-books uncorrupted by AI directly or indirectly, and that LLM scanners have not "slurped up".

Instead of routinely ALLOWING those cookies I routinely REJECT all cookies not critical to functions that serve ME.

America is a pair of continents, and America has not cracked down on anything. The United States of America has a government agency that has taken some actions, but that does not affect the rest of either of those two continents. Canada, Mexico, Cuba, and about 31 other countries should feel insulted!

If it were my project, I would want to do it in a state with a legislature and governor less prone to rejecting science and objecting to green energy projects!

I found Google+ (G+) a far more sane place than any other social media site. It did not serve the same purpose as every other site, it was unique in many ways. I will miss it terribly. I have successfully migrated over to MEWE, which is becoming somewhat more like G+ every day, and expect it to provide everything G+ did. In time. I can understand that G+ was becoming more of a liability every day, and under attack from governments and cyber criminals. I cannot blame Google. But I will still miss it.
