I agree 100%. I've been working on Robocup for over a year now with Cornell, and have come to really appreciate the system and what things it can do. It is amazing watching these things evolve and detect the "right" thing to do and do it. All these Battle-War Robot shows are just plain dumb. The accomplish nothing, and are just an extension of the person controlling them. Blah!
