A couple of things this article fails to mention and take into account is how many EV manufacturers are only selling in select states - CA is always one of them, so they have greater accessibility to new EV's versus a lot of other states. This partly explains the sales even though the cost of ownership in CA for an EV is higher than a lot of areas where electricity is cheaper. There is also a larger number of higher income residents in CA, which makes a lot of the higher cost EV's easier to sell there. Once availability is more ubiquitous and as cheaper EV's come to market, I expect a lot of other states' sales to pick up.
