They've already made the mistake of promising a lot with Vista and with Roadmaps, I think usually (from past experience with MS) they are indicative only and don't really outline a good basis for what MS are developing. To be honest they probably just plucked a number out of the air.

umm, new zealand doesn't even have clarity on its own broadband strategy. I mean we still have the monopolisation of Telecom and only a few other players who are hesitant to invest their coin in a national broadband network in NZ. I think if Obama wants some advice it would be this: 1./ well defined strategy with outcomes 2./ Return on Investment from infrastructure 3./ Policy around how Network owners "unbundle services" Just pure $ do not always equal better broadband...

I agree, the other problem is that does this apply to businesses located in other states selling to people in Wisconsin or vice versa, businesses selling to people located in other states or overseas. How do they regulate it and how do they distinguish if the buisness is based in Wisconsin, but sells from a "branch" or "Headquarters" located somewhere else?

Game Journalists Go Head to Head in 'The Metagame' 23

The Metagame event, held this past GDC in San Francisco, garnered a good deal of buzz ... even if not that many people had a chance to see it. The folks behind GameLab set up another session of the inventive game-knowledge gameshow, and pitted two pairs of journalists against each other to see who could better argue their (randomly determined) cases. The results are not only hilarious, but viewable on the MTV website.

Submission + - Police swoop on 'hacker of the year' (smh.com.au)

AcidAUS writes: The Swedish hacker, Dan Egerstad, who perpetrated the so-called hack of the year, has been arrested in a dramatic raid on his apartment, during which he was taken in for questioning and several of his computers confiscated. Egerstad broke into the global communications network used by embassies around the world in August and gained access to 1000 sensitive email accounts.
