It’s ironic how Americans, with their gas-guzzling SUVs, cranked-up ACs, and thousands of miles of leisure air travel, lecture Indians—most of whom light their homes with a single LED bulb and commute short distances on two-wheelers—about cutting carbon emissions.
Maybe the West should slash its own energy consumption and lifestyle excesses before preaching. If the price of improving living standards in developing nations is a few low-lying countries going under, so be it.
