Well, I don't know about the States, but here in Germany most workplaces are still a fully suited environment. Often including all the techies!
Admittedly, I spend most of my time working with the banks, a notorious Suit environment (though it is noticable that the women are often no-Suited!).
But when back in my companies offices, it's smart casual, so ironed T-Shirts for us techies too..
Then there's "Its", I suspect Monty Python might have a few words to say to you about that.... :)
