Once upon a time people laughed at the idea of putting critical infrastructure on the internet. I don't understand how it is still being pushed so hard

Considering MS now make apps for Android I'm surprised that they didn't also port their "tiles" launcher, I thought that was a fantastic design for a phone's homescreen. Definitely not for a desktop, but very much for a phone.

The old 1980s hard drives made a gentle peeping sound during a seek, much more pleasing to the ear than the crunchy clicking sounds of later drives - though the motors on those old drives are very loud. I've considered building something like that myself but it just ended up on the infinite project todo pile.

The way I read the part about trying to mate two phones together it seems anything but. Just hand someone a card, I've yet to find someone incompatible with a card. The same applies for tickets, a paper one won't run out of battery and old folks won't waste everyone's time trying to get it to load.

That simplified naming lasted a long time, all of 2 years from what I see. I wonder when 6E+ devices will appear?

It's a neat idea, but I'm listening on this frequency after the time of the BBC broadcast and hear Russian being spoken so presumably they are countering with their own broadcast?
