This is another one of those things where previous actions of others causes inconvenience for many others. Because some drank 10 beers then got behind the wheel, now we can't even have 2 then drive. Because some had their life behind a password1234 email account we have 2FA.

This is how I feel too. I still use XP on one machine because Windows 7 has removed any easy to use search functionality (and Agent Ransack plays up sometimes), and I don't always have time or the patience to spend 2 hours+ to get the scanner on a new MFC printer working in linux (slackware). For these reasons and others, XP is what I still use on a still functional AthlonXP machine.

The problem I have is if I have 20+ video related programs installed, and I need to use one which hasn't been used in 6 months or more, I may not remember the name. In XP I would keep the start menu in order, and go straight to the video submenu where upon seeing it, remember what it's called.

Because 'right click the ISO and select mount' is hard to explain. I do agree with the rest of your post, and understand that it is often easier to explain a command line process than where to click, just not this instance. I'm all for the command line, and think everyone should know what it is, how to get at it, and find out the right commands if needed. However, for most it's not always worth it. If one was to learn a specific command to do this or that, and didn't require it for 2-3 years or more, they aren't going to remember it. It's more reasonable to GUI it. If my car is scheduled for a timing belt change, I'm not going to teach myself how to do it, plus buy all the required tools so I can so it again in 10 years. Most don't even service their car out of the same fear/unknown/laziness as one not using the command line. Apologies for the clumped reply, the android browser really doesn't like /.
