Why doesn't Dell have a new show when a product that is overpriced and largely similar (except some wax) to other available computers? Have Micheal Dell tell use that this new processor is so wonderful in terms a 6 year old would understand. The point? Even if Steve dies, there are plenty of showmen that can take his place like Ron Popeil. Ignorance indeed. The point is simple. Above all else, you want to minimize the hazards to your datacenter. Detroit has been known to have icestorms and blizzards. Heartland corn fields have tornados. Add hurricanes on the southeast coast and a whole range of natural disasters on the west coast and it is apparent why you make your choices. The last thing any major internet company wants is for the roof of the data center to collapse under the weight of an ice storm or be torn off by a twister because in exchange for a few million saved you lose your entire capital investment not to mention truck loads of data and capacity.
