sometimes cs profs get it (Score 1)

i am in a programming class this semester where our professor encourages us to collaborate. he's told us that we'll get better code in the same time or faster working with a partner. if you work with a partner (of your choosing), you both get the same grade. we aren't required to work together, however, and can switch partners with each homework,so those who don't want to carry someone's else weight don't have to. the result is, i understand the homework better than just muddling through on my own, and those who work better alone can.

now if we can just convince the rest of the professors to do it... =)
