I've gotten some of the best 'health care' of my life from a "nurse-practitioner" at a student health center. Sure, variation exists, but for most health concerns, an MD is a bit overkill (pardon the pun). The cross-purposes of insurance and health-care providers seem to be the deeper issue than the initials following a name.
