Journal tuxette's Journal: stress 4
What a fucking stressful day. Everything was difficult and angry and aggressive and stubborn. It started by my having to go home between morning run and work (was going to go straight to work) because I forgot my key card. And it all went downhillish from there.
But some stressful things are worse than others. The forgetting the card thing is nothing compared to all the other crap. And these aren't work-related (I have my stress there but this other stress only makes things worse.) Um, anyway. Among the things that really make my head want to implode now:
- A recruiter from "Company C" has been trying to call me all day. From Budafuckingpest. Finally talked to him quickly after lunch and asked him if he could call me back at 5 pm. He never called back *sigh*
- One of the professors from my old department at the University of Oslo has contacted me and asked me to be a censor for a student project; the subject area is one where I have a good amount of expertise (though surprisingly not marketable *sulk*) Anyway, this is actually something I'd love to do. However, the timing sucks eggs. The paper/project is to be turned in May 9th, the day my parents arrive for a visit. The oral exam is on the 29th. My parents go back the 20th. Now this would leave me very little time to go through the project and all, if I end up getting a longer temp contract or permanent job at Company B. I would thus be useless as a censor.
*grumble*
To make matters worse, that useless boyfriend of mine didn't have dinner ready when I came home. So I nearly bit off his head to eat for dinner. *sigh*
The weights workout this evening helped in reducing the stress level. A lot. I feel relatively good and relaxed now, despite my head's desire to implode. And what made tonight's workout even more amusing was that most of the guys there were nice to me. Not just polite and/or indifferent, but really nice and friendly. Either I've been accepted as one of the gang, or I'm in heat. (Can penguins get in heat?)

Could it have been simply due to the time difference? The job offer at the university sounds like an invitation for a disaster, though. If you're going to be a censor, you should always have enough time to do a good job.

Ah, yes. So typical of a male physicist. Oh, wait a minute... ;)

There would also be 1-2 others doing the same thing. Tag-team torture. Good fun.
I really don't think I'll have the time to make such a commitment though. It wouldn't be fair to the students if I weren't able to be 100% committed...
