Seems like a fairly standard location for a game pad, its where mine is too.
And yes, the cat does like playing with the cat5 cables. The RJ45 connectors seem to hold particular interest for it.
The cats been discouraged from playing with my computer equipment though, ever since it squeezed through the front panel 5.25" drive slots and pissed on the mainboard... while the machine was switched on.
It took about 5 mins for the system to go down, lots of spurious interrupts in the system log then a total lockup followed by the smell of burning silicon and cats piss. only the cpu and memory were recoverable, and the cat.
