Journal trmj's Journal: Reflection.. as opposed to the first flection 1

Well that title was completely off the wall.

Since I got over 2.5 feet of snow over the past two days, you'd think I would be in a nice warm house / car, wouldn't you?

But alas, my bedroom stays a nice chilly 60 degrees. When I turn on my little electric space heater, my parents flip about the electric bill going up. If they don't want the electric bill going up, perhaps they should find out why the heater misses my room?

And my car is even worse. It's got a little hole in one heater hose, so if I turn on the heater, it starts smoking as I drive down the road. Needless to say, I drive with the heater off for obvious reasons.

On another non-related-to-anything-else note, I downloaded trillian and started using it today. It works great, but I had trouble remembering my icq password. I haven't used icq in about 2 years. Go figure, it is the very first password I ever used. Had a fun time remembering that one. Luckily, I kept a text file with all my old icq friends' uin numbers in it so I didn't have to go looking for them.

Most of the people that I know that use icq, yahoo messenger, or msn messenger haven't heard from me in about 2 years or more. I've missed a lot of them, but I really stopped conversing with people online when I got a real life.

So, I ask those who read my journal (all one of you), what's the best way to re-introduce yourself to old friends? I doubt saying, "Hey! Remember me? You haven't seen me for a couple of years, but I'm back!" would work very well. I know for a fact that in that time I have changed (lost 80 lbs and gained a personality), but I have no idea if they have or if they will accept me now.

I guess time will tell. As was quoted in an instant message today, "Tom says many things, many of which should be disregarded as ponderings spoken aloud"

  • I have been in this situation twice, however I was not IM networks but two rather exclusive IRC channels.

I just logged in, made sure I was using my old nick, and waited to see if anyone recognized me.

I think that's the best way, as you don't go making an ass of yourself saying "Remember me? From 2 years back? Oh..."
