Lol, $10k in damages to Akron Uni's servers? Hell no, I used to work there. Security nightmare, tbh. Nice people though. I think they're still using LEAP for their university wireless network. It's great to yank passwords on the fly out of the air. I even wrote a paper when I was there 3 years ago on the insecurity of their wireless, but I hear nothing's been changed to this day.

Weakness In Linux Kernel's Binary Format 281

Goodfellas writes, "This document aims to demonstrate a design weakness found in the handling of simply linked lists used to register binary formats handled by the Linux kernel. It affects all the kernel families (2.0/2.2/2.4/2.6), allowing the insertion of infection modules in kernel space that can be used by malicious users to create infection tools, for example rootkits. This is wrong. Murderers these days get off easy. Sounds exactly like today's so called drug "crimes". They say all of this is to scare people away from doing the crime in the first place. I don't see how harsher punishments will really affect the crime from occuring. It will just keep the violent people out of jail and the non-violent people in.

Journal Journal: Bored out of my mind

I am bored to hell. Good thing I have /. to help me with it ;)

The problem is, my systems aren't broken at all. I have lots of space left, and they run fast. Plus, there aren't any upgrades. This sucks.

While many people might like the idea of a perfect gentoo system that is up to date, and having no problems, I don't. I have more time than money, and even less things to do.

Oh well, i'll go see what I can break.
