Comment Re:Why would they want to pursue native installs? (Score 1) 53

Advertising that if you buy a Mac you can still run Windows if you really need to, was a huge deal in getting people to make the switch, because it took out the risk of switching. I know plenty of people who would not have made the jump if they didn't have the option of installing Windows via BootCamp. A lot of them never did but, nonetheless, it influenced their purchasing decision.

Comment Why not copy what game consoles do? (Score 2) 150

Why is this even a problem? Since you have to be online to stream video, require every end-point to check in with a DRM server to a force up-to-n-instances only? You can even get a read-out of currently logged-in devices and choose to log them out right then, just in case you left something running somewhere. This is what Adobe CC does (up to 3 devices at once) and also when playing most digital-only video games (Steam/PS4/Switch/Xbox). And these support offline mode when you really need it. Are they afraid this is to complex for the average NetFlix customer? Admittedly it's not entirely straight-forward, so maybe that's their reasoning? If they care this much I'm sure they can make the interface easier to understand.

"Project Ghost uses videoconferencing technology Logitech already sells, pulls a trick like what you might know from a teleprompter to create the projection" This means all you get is the same, 2d flat webcam image of the other person, but semi-transparent and "floating" in the air. Some people will likely think it's cool, but I want something at least stereoscopic if not pseudo-volumetric, which is what I think Starline does, via heavy processing. Sounds like HP Halo, but with the ghost trick.

It can't play current AAA titles found on other consoles and PC's. And by that I mean, it can't play a port that can be considered anywhere near close to the originals. Look at the Witcher 3, Doom Eternal, or Mortal Kombat 11 ports. And they've not even bothered porting things like Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, or Death Stranding. I do love the fact that the Switch is so popular they try porting some of them anyway.

Comment They keyboard is now the most important part (Score 1) 148

As stated on unbox therapy: the keyboard is now the most important part of any laptop. Why? Because modern smartphones are capable of doing so much, the only time we need to reach for a laptop is when we need its keyboard. Otherwise, stick to your phone. (Sure, there are many exceptions, but I'm talking about what is considered standard use by most these days).
