Why no signs? because -- 1. By an (unnamed?) rule of thumb, What can be done, by someone, eventually does get done, by someone. 2. Among the technologically accomplished, technological prowess goes on increasing. 3. When technical power arrives at the capability for planetary (or species) self destruction, then self destruction is not long in coming. 4. Optimistic hope: by another rule of thumb, exceptions to the rules occasionally arise.
