8. Most space craft have a suspiciously aerodynamic shape, despite being designed for space flight, and never going near an atmosphere.
I was going to skip the technical bits, but this one applies to reality as well. Even at sub-light speeds, the ship moves along at a fast clip. Despite space being described as a "vacuum", there's still a great deal of matter between point A and point B, and if you're tooling along at 85% of the speed of light, the dust and hydrogen is going to impart a lot of friction.
Not to mention there is at least one TOS episode where the Enterprise enters the Earth's atmosphere - in one of the time travel episodes of course.
