Hey, I'm pretty biased having worked for DEC Field Service for 12 years. It seemed the only thing keeping DEC alive was services and the hardware engineers thinking of ways to make our lives easier. You're right that users will find a way to break things. When I was a junior tech, a senior tech once told me "every service call is a prank ... look for the easy stuff first." Ken Olsen messed up by not embracing personal technology, other than that I had fun as a tech. DECNet and DECNet/VMS clusters were/are great technology, easy to setup but not too scalable. -ep
