Just like in the rest of the world there is a massive demand for any skilled IT workers here in Japan. I work as a developer for a company which, among other things, runs a job site specifically aimed at bringing foreign talent to Japan. Japanese skills are a plus, but not absolutely necessary. Many of the large financial institutions or foreign owned computer companies do not require you to know any Japanese.
