I'm blatantly presuming you've never installed windows on a linux machine. It fucks up the boot sector with its own version of it all. I first get one error message, I check the net for hours, I fix the error, up comes another, I buy and download loads of boot fixing programs, none of them work (one for a 100 whopping dollars, and a subscription, to boot; it was the most worthless of them all). Eventually I figure I should just format my HDD; this was the deathknell. While windows would add a boot part to the HDD when you format, linux would have nothing to do with that. Piece of shit. Oh and I used Rufus, after trying to install from an USB it gives an error, I reinstall with rufus on some weird setting which itself says "the flash memory will be unrecoverable after this". It didn't say, if you boot twice with it, or even insert it in any other machine, it will break the flash drive. Pathetic. And I did all of this to incessantly get Ultima Online to work, with that, I worked constantly for 3 weeks 8 hours per day, even trying to set up my own private server. No, I never got it to work, and found out about Runescape instead; the only MMORPG in existance which is enjoyable, and that freeways around my free WIFIs port blocking.
