There are two apps for this: endlessh (easy to compile) and tarssh (done in rust, easy to install with cargo). Both endlessh and tarssh listen for SSH connections. When the annoying SSH brute-force bots try to access the system, the get a never-ending welcome message/MOTD. It wastes their time and resources. In the meantime, you would use Port 2222 (or another port if you wish) on your real SSH server. These annoying and silly SSH brute-force bots only scan for Port 22.
