I saw this on Digg about 2 days ago. Even the title is a direct ripoff. I see so many ripoffs from Digg on /. every single day (except a few days later).

I read Slashdot about once every 2 days now, instead of my normal all throughout the day that I used to. My surfing time is now devoted to digg and Engadget(and other Weblogs Inc Blogs). You get better quality news with less dupes, better quality writeups, often humor, and just a better web experience in general.

But I do like the CSS on /. now. It makes it easier to do Greasemonkey scripts, and I'm running a couple of Slashdot user scripts now.

I hate to troll, but this is more of an open letter to /. editors. Just look at the Alexa numbers. There's a disturbance in the force. Here's a link to my digg news.

If you are selling them a license to run your software package, couldn't you just purchase the MySQL license and include the cost of it in the price of your product? Unless your product is selling for $49.99, which I doubt.

Or give them your product for free (open source it) and sell them the support contract. No license required. :)

Journal Journal: Got my iPod!!!

I got my free iPod. A lot of you flamed me in my past journal posts saying it's a scam, but you're incorrect. Email me at cbenard@gmail.com for video/photo proof if you require. I may update this post later with links to it.

For those of you keeping count, I have one free iPod and one free Xbox.

Anyway, I'm trying to get another one through a different company. Same principle.

An iPod for Free?
By: Chris Benard

I too was skeptical when I first saw this. In fact, a friend of mine tried to get me to do it months ago and I thought it was a scam and laughed at him for falling for it.

Since that time, I've seen many so called "FreeiPod Guide" sites and some actually have pictures of people actually receiving their free iPod.

Journal Journal: Linux Migration

I have one last hurdle to overcome when it comes to migrating completely to Linux.

I need a Print Shop program. So far as I can tell there isn't one. And don't say Scribus. Scribus is desktop publishing. I need something that will work for printing birthday cards, business cards, etc. I don't care if it's open source or proprietary.

As soon as I have that, I might be able rid my machine of Windows forever.

Journal Journal: Religion

No, religion doesn't have anything to do Slashdot. Deal with it.

So - was religion created by humans because they needed something to believe?

I'm sitting in my Eastern Religion class and really it brings up a lot of questions. Questions like the one above. Also, hwo do we know the Christians had any clue? These Eastern Religions seem to make more sense than the Western ones do.

And I was brought up as a Christian.
